2,500 flags to fly at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7

Advertiser Staff

There were 2,408 U.S. casualties when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. In their memory and honor, the entire space at Richardson Field will be covered by 2,500 3-feet-by-5-feet flags on 8-foot poles standing in perfect rows similar to Arlington Cemetery this year.

Dec. 7 marks the 66th anniversary of the attack.

All of the flags will fly on a Healing Field memorial at Richardson Field overlooking the Arizona Memorial.

In addition to the U.S. flags, a display of 150 Hawaiian flags will also represent casualties in the current conflict of those Hawai'i citizens and military deployed from all Hawai'i installations.
