Chance sighting leads to auto theft arrest in Aiea

Police today arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of auto theft and a woman passenger in the car for investigation of offenses related to identity theft.

The pair were arrested in the parking lot of Aiea Shopping Center at 5 p.m.

Auto-theft charges are pending against Justin Ikaika Bruhn, who lists no permanent local address, and is being held on four outstanding warrants totalling $8,715.

A 20-year-old woman passenger in the car was arrested for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. A police officer at the scene recogized her as a suspect in a Nov. 8 forgery case and she was also arrested for second-degree forgery, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, and second-degree identity theft.

A witness reported seeing his friend's stolen car being driven by a man and told police where the suspects were parked.
