Coast Guard assists injured man on boat north of Kauai

Advertiser Staff

A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point this morning medically evacuated an injured man aboard a fishing vessel about 70 miles north of Kaua'i.

The Coast Guard received a call from the vessel's crew at 7:15 a.m. Monday concerning a 30-year-old male crewmember who injured his finger on a tackle block aboard the fishing vessel Isabella T. A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended that the crewmembers of the Isabella T tend to the man's injury while awaiting the Coast Guard rescue crew.

The injured man was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Kaua'i.
