Man arrested in Aiea bomb-threat case

Advertiser Staff

A 21-year-old man who allegedly called an 'Aiea business to tell the workers a bomb was planted on the premises was arrested yesterday on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

The man on Wednesday reportedly twice called the business and told two employees that an explosive device was planted at the business. A police search of the business found nothing, police said. One of the employees reportedly identified the voice of the caller as either a former employee or customer, police said.

Man arrested in connection with reported beating

A 49-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday with felony abuse after he allegedly beat and restrained his longtime girlfriend.

On Aug. 25, the man's girlfriend, 49, who he had lived with off and on for more than 25 years, went to visit the man at his house.

An argument between the couple ensued, police said.

During the argument the man reportedly grabbed the woman and punched her repeatedly in the face. The man then reportedly threatened to further beat her if she left, police said.

When finally left alone, the woman said she fled the home and called police.

Yesterday the man was arrested in the Honolulu area and charged with two counts of felony abuse of a household member. He is being held in lieu of $4,000 bail.
