Tickets are $25 at the door, or $20 in advance. Advance tickets may be purchased from contestants or by calling (808)842-8228.

About a dozen high school senior women will compete for more than $15,000 in cash scholarships, 4-year college scholarships, awards and prizes provided by local sponsors. The women will be judged by an academic panel and a performance panel. Volunteer judges are community leaders who represent various sectors of the state.

Hawaii's 2007 Junior Miss, Kaitlin Koga, represented the Islands at the national competition held in Mobile, Alabama, the home of the program. She was Roosevelt High School's valedictorian and is currently applying her Junior Miss scholarships at Harvard University, where she plans to continue in law school.

Contestants are recruited from public and private high schools on all islands, and standards for participation are exceptionally high. Girls with proven scholastic ability and leadership qualities are encouraged to compete.
