High surf advisory issued for Oahu's north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory is in effect for all north- and west-facing shores on Oahu, according to the National Weather Service.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to rise to heights of 15 to 20 feet by this afternoon.

Surf along west-facing shores will likely rise to 10 to 14 feet this afternoon, forecasters said.

Surf along east- and south-facing shores will be in the 2- to 4-foot range today.

Surf heights are expected to be above the high surf advisory thresholds along north- and west-facing shores today and Thursday.

A large northwest swell is due in later in the week and will likely increase surf heights to the high surf warning threshold along north-facing shores from late Friday through Saturday. Small south swells are also expected this week.
