SALT LAKE
Students to stencil water protection messages

Advertiser Staff

Student volunteers from Moanalua High School will stencil water protection messages on storm drains in Salt Lake on Friday, the city said.

With assistance from the city, members of the school's Leo Club will stencil "Dump No Waste, Protect Our Waters ... For Life" on storm drains on Ala Poha Place, Ala Makahala Place and Ala Napunani Street. The students will also stencil a graphic of the o'opu — the endemic Hawaiian goby fish — the city's clean-water mascot.

Iwalani Sato of the city's Adopt-A-Stream program said the storm drain stenciling aims to remind residents of the connection between city streets and nearby waters.
