Plantation Village holds free cooking festival

A "plantation cooking festival" will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawaii's Plantation Village on Waipahu Street.

Time-tested recipes selected from plantation village cookbooks will be prepared and offered for sampling throughout the village. Visitors will be able to taste Chinese, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Okinawan, Korean, Filipino and Hawaiian food.

Chefs will prepare the dishes at cooking demonstrations to be held at the village social hall.

Admission to the festival and the village, as well as parking, will be free on Saturday.

Refreshments and the village's popular cookbooks will be available for sale and the gift shop will be open.
