Honolulu Design Center hosts holiday events

The new Honolulu Design Center plans three holiday events in the coming weeks, two of them free:
Guy Sibilla, a Honolulu-based intrepid traveler, photographer and writer, will share photos of "Ancient Cities" in Syria and Jordan and talk story about his recent excursions there, 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Cupola Theatre, second floor. Free.
A champagne tasting is planned at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10, with the chef's choice of appetizers to accompany the bubbly. Tickets are $150. Reservations: Joett, 630-9184.
Metropolis magazine editor-in-chief Susan S. Szenasy will discuss the importance of design in today's world and the new short film, "Site Specific: The Legacy of Regional Modernism," will be shown at noon in the Cupola Theatre. Bring brown bag lunch, if desired. Free.
