DOWNTOWN
Sign-waving will focus on World AIDS Day

Advertiser Staff

Life Foundation volunteers will wave signs along King Street tomorrow to raise awareness about World AIDS Day.

The day is commemorated annually on Dec. 1.

This year, volunteers have also put up an AIDS awareness display as part of the Honolulu City Lights exhibits adjacent to Honolulu Hale. The display will be up throughout the season.

The Life Foundation is a Hawai'i nonprofit dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV and helping those who are infected with HIV and AIDS. The group has partnered with others to put on several World AIDS Day events on four islands.

The sign-waving event kicks off World AIDS Day commemorations on O'ahu. Volunteers will hold signs and banners on King Street at the corner of Bishop and South Vineyard streets from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information or a listing of other World AIDS Day events, call 521-2437 or go to www.worldaidsdayhawaii.org.
