Advertiser Staff

The winners of the 22nd annual Holiday Wreath Contest at Honolulu Hale were announced today.

Valerie Fernandez won the overall "best in show" prize for her wreath, called "Tribute to Royalty." The wreath features 5,000 pieces of cut and folded ribbon designed to represent a Hawaiian feather cloak.

It is adorned with crossed spears, a Hawaiian helmet, crowned kahili and torch ginger. The wreath beat out 82 other entries to win the grand prize.

Fernandez will get $200 for her work.

The winner of the adult wreath category was Kathy Tosh, while the Stevenson Middle School video art computer technology class took top honors in the youth category. The winner for the best theme wreath was Marian Bernal.

The wreaths will be on display at Honolulu Hale through New Year's Day.
