Free lecture on Ossipoff at Doris Duke tomorrow

The Honolulu Academy of Arts is holding a free lecture and panel discussion at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Doris Duke Theatre as part of its show "Hawaiian Modern: The Architecture of Vladimir Ossipoff."
Dean Sakamoto, guest-curator of the exhibition, will talk about the making of the show, the exhibition catalogue and the accompanying documentary film "True to Form: Vladimir Ossipoff, Architect."
Born and raised on O'ahu, Sakamoto is now critic in design and director of exhibitions at the Yale University School of Architecture. The panel discussion on "Modern Hawaii
Today," will follow, 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., featuring Karla Britton, lecturer in architectural history at the Yale University School of Architecture; Don Hibbard, Hawai'i -based architectural historian; Karl Kim, PhD, professor and chair, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Hawai'i-Manoa; Spencer Leineweber, FAIA, professor at UH's School of Architecture; Ossipoff client Dr. Linus Pauling, Jr.; and Ossipoff collaborator Sidney Snyder, Jr., AIA, principal, Ossipoff
Snyder and Rowland Architects.
