Big Island Visitors Bureau presents Aikane Awards

The Big Island Visitors Bureau announced the winners of its Aikane Awards during its annual membership luncheon today.

The awards are designed to recognize individuals and/or entities for their contributions to the island's visitor industry.

This year's recipients are:

  • William "Uncle Billy" Kimi Jr., owner and founder of Uncle Billy's Hilo Bay Hotel and Uncle Billy's Kona Bay Hotel.

  • Frank Kamahele, former district manager of the Hilo and Kona airports.

  • Carl Hayashi, Japan Airlines' Kona station manager.
