UH men sixth, UH women seventh in Husky swimming

The University of Hawai'i men's swimming team is in sixth, while the women are seventh after the first day of Husky Invitational at Federal Way, Wash.

Michigan (461.5) leads the men's competition; UH has 145 points. Host Washington (412) leads the women's competition; UH has 118.

Top UH finishers were Emma Berry (fourth) in the 500 free in 4 minutes, 52.53 seconds and Grzegroz Mroz (fourth) in the men's 500 in 4:22.27. The UH men's 400 medley relay team also placed fourth in 3:20.23.


RUNNING

RYUN, KEINO TO SPEAK

Running legends Jim Ryun and Kip Keino will be speaking at 'Iolani School on Tuesday.

Ryun held several U.S. and world records in distance running and served in the House of Representatives from 1997 to 2007.

Keino, from Kenya, is a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

The pair will be speaking at 'Iolani's Seto Hall from 9:46 a.m. to 10:27 a.m., and again from 11:18 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

AUTO RACING



LEONG TO SIGN

Hawai'i's Roland Leong, a veteran of drag racing and funny cars, will have an autograph session tomorrow at Malibu Shirts in Waikiki.

Leong has been a driver, owner and crew chief in his 40-year racing career.

The autograph session, at Mailbu Shirts at 226 Lewers St., unit 115, runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Replica shirts from Leong's 1965 and 1966 national championships will be available.
