Woman critically injured in Ewa head-on collision

Advertiser Staff

A 36-year-old 'Ewa Beach woman was critically injured today in a head-on traffic collision on Old Fort Weaver Road in 'Ewa.

Police vehicular homicide investigator Sgt. Danny Kaholokula said the woman was driving a 2001 Mercury Sable northbound on Old Fort Weaver Road when she crossed a double-solid yellow center line to pass another vehicle and into the path of an on-coming 2001 Ford 150 pickup truck at 3:42 p.m.

The woman appears to have been speeding and may have been driving impaired, said Kaholokula in his recorded police report.

The two occupants of the pickup truck — a man, 30, and woman, 24, both of 'Ewa Beach — were transported to The Queen's Medical Center, where their condition is stable, said Kaholokula.

The critically injured woman is also hospitalized at Queen's.

The collision occurred at Old Fort Weaver Road by the Old Fort Weaver Road extension to the rear of Kahi Mohala by the "Y" intersection, police said.
