Advertiser Staff

A lei-draping ceremony, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct.16, will commemorate the birthday of Princess Victoria Kawekiui Lunalilo Kalaninuiahilapalapa Kai'ulani Cleghorn, at the site of her statue in Waikiki.

The ceremony will be at the Princess Kai'ulani Triangle Park, across from the Ohana East Hotel, which is presenting the event with Outrigger Hotels & Resorts.

A conch shell blowing and oli will honor the princess, with Hawaiian groups such as the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Aha Hui Ka'ahumanu, Hale O Na Ali'i, Daughters & Sons of Hawaiian Warriors, and Na Wahine Hui O Kamehameha among the participants.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
