New Kauai police chief sworn in today

Darryl Perry, Kaua'i's new police chief, began his 33-year police career with the Kaua'i force.

Darryl Perry will be sworn in as Kauai's seventh police chief today at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall at 3:30 p.m.

The KPD has 125 sworn officers.

Perry started his 33-year career as a Kaua'i police officer. He transferred to the Honolulu Police Department and retired as a major who commanded the Juvenile Services, Narcotics/Vice and Criminal Investigations units.

Following his HPD retirement in 2002, Perry worked as chief of security for First Hawaiian Bank on O'ahu, an investigator with the state attorney general's office and as an adjunct professor at Honolulu Community College in the Justice of Administration Program.
