Swimmer who died on Big Island was Kaneohe man

Advertiser Staff

A 19-year-old man whose body was recovered yesterday at Boiling Pots Park, also known as Pe'epe'e Falls Park, in Hilo was identified today by Big Island police as Chase I. Morrill of Kane'ohe.

Police and fire department rescue specialists responded to a missing-swimmer call at 3:10 p.m. after witnesses reported that a man seen diving into a pool at Boiling Pots failed to surface.

Fire department scuba divers later recovered the body.

Police have classified the case as a coroner's inquest.
