Levi Strauss & Co. announced last fall that it would release its Eco line of 100 percent organic cotton men's and women's jeans with zippers and buttons from recycled material. Levi says it made the switch to organic cotton to help keep pesticides used in cotton farming from entering the food chain. So far, the jeans are hard to find, but J.C. Penney expects to carry the men's Red Tab 539 vintage straight-leg jeans online for $45.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

EVEN TIDY PACK RATS NEED TO KNOW WHEN TO LET IT GO

Are you one of those people who are organized, but just have too much stuff? Real Simple's October edition advises:

  • Tame the paper beast by throwing out tax returns after seven years.

  • Holding on to closet ghosts? Follow the three F's: Does it fit, flatter and make you feel like a million bucks? Donate those that don't.

  • Thanks for the memories: If you got something as a gift but don't really use it, take a picture of yourself with it, then let it go. You'll remember the giver — without added clutter.
