How to wear this season's wide-leg pants

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Fashion trend chasing can lure women into working harder than they already do.

Skinny jeans, neon colors, mini skirts — worrying what to wear, and when and how, takes a toll on your style and time.

Yet one look on the line for fall folds modern and moveable into one must-have fashionable wardrobe piece — the wide-leg pant. Versatile for day and evening, the menswear-inspired trouser never looked more feminine, even in cool fall colors of gray and navy.

Wide-leg options are endless — high rise, low rise, pleated, flowing, baggy — forgiving on most body types. The long lines give the illusion of height. A crisply ironed crease down each leg elongates even more. Slip on a pair of heels to enhance the look.

If you are on the short side, beware of a cuff, which interrupts the line, while a too baggy style could overwhelm a small frame.

When opting for the wide-leg, keep your fall look in proportion. Save the voluminous tops for another day. Pair your flowing pants with fitted shirts and sweaters, along with shorter jackets — especially fabulous this season in rich jewel tones.

For those wash-and-wear days, pull on the denim, leaving plenty of room for fun. Darker rinses do wonders to dress up curves.

Take the drudgery out of work clothes and polish your look in a classic sailor-waist with button detail and uber-drape.

Glam up the gam-wear in varied textures such as luxurious velvet in rich chocolate — party perfect every time.
