Malama Learning Center gets $250,000 pledge

Advertiser Staff

The Malama Learning Center last week received a pledge of $250,000 by the James Campbell Co. that will go to construction of its new home. The $10.5 million learning center is expected to be completed in 2010.

Sitting on 3 acres at the entrance to Kapolei High School, the center is designed as a "living laboratory" for combining art, science, conservation and culture to promote sustainability in Hawai'i.

Visitors to the center will be able to learn how they can perpetuate Hawaiian culture and values.

Campbell is the master-developer of and largest private landowner in Kapolei.
