Competition to help feed needy

Advertiser Staff

The American Institute of Architects Honolulu Chapter and Pearlridge Center will hold the Second Annual Canstruction Competition Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pearlridge's Uptown Center Court.

During the competition — which is themed "Celebrating Our Past, Designing Our Future" — 14 teams of local architects and allied design professionals will build structures made only of canned food in a six-hour period.

The first "Canstruction" raised more than 41,000 pounds of canned food for the Hawaii Foodbank.

The Canstruction award ceremony will be at noon on Oct. 21.
