Maui's second annual House of the Sun Solar Tour on Saturday will provide a close look at homes and businesses that save money and help the environment by using solar energy.

The free event, sponsored by the nonprofit Hawaii PV Coalition, is part of a National Solar Tour that kicks off October as National Energy Awareness Month.

Tour hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with properties in north, west, south and central Maui. Among the participants are Maui Community College's solar hot-water lab and UPC Hawaii Wind.
