Motorcycle crash in Kahala kills 2 riders

Advertiser Staff

A man and a woman were fatally injured when their motorcycle crashed into a parked car at 4374 Kahala Ave. near the Royal Place intersection in Kahala late last night, police said.

Traffic investigators reported that the accident occurred about 10:35 p.m. when the unidentified male and a 30-year-old Asian woman were traveling west down Kahala Avenue at a high speed.

Police said they came to a bend in the road near the Royal Place intersection, continued straight and the 2005 Harley Davidson slid to the ground and into a parked Ford multipurpose vehicle that was unoccupied.

Neither the driver nor the passenger, who slid to a stop near their motorcycle, were wearing helmets, police said.

The two were taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead before midnight.

The deaths are the 49th and 50th traffic fatalities on O'ahu this year, the third fatal motorcycle accident since Sept. 4 and eighth this year.

The previous motorcycle fatality occurred on Sept. 22 when a 53-year-old man was killed near Aloha Stadium.

Last year at this time there were 74 traffic fatalities on O'ahu.
