Lima is new Honolulu police assistant chief

The Honolulu Police Department today announced the promotion of Narcotics/Vice Division Maj. Kevin Lima to the rank of assistant chief.

Lima, 53, a Kamehameha Schools graduate, has a master's degree in human resource management from Hawai'i Pacific University and bachelor of science degree from Chaminade University.

The 28-year HPD veteran will be the assistant chief in charge of the Special Field Operation Bureau, succeeding Assistant Chief Bryan Wauke, who is moving over to head the Central Command Bureau previously commanded by recently promoted deputy chief Michael Tucker.

The Special Operations Bureau is made up of the Central Receiving Division, Homeland Security Division, Specialized Services Division, Traffic Division, and HPD Civil Defense.

Capt. Kerry Inouye will command Narcotics/Vice until a replacement for Lima is named.

The department today also announced the promotions of Capt. Carlton Nishimura to major, and lieutenants Aaron Correia and Richard Robinson to the rank of captains.

Nishimura, 51, a 27-year HPD veteran, will command the Criminal Investigation Division, succeeding Alan Fujimoto, who is the new commander of the Windward O'ahu patrol district.

Other commanders shifting to new positions are Maj. Janna Mizuo (Internal Affairs), Maj. Clayton Saito (Central Honolulu patrol), Maj. Randy Macadangdang (Waikiki patrol), and Maj. Marie McCauley (East Honolulu patrol).

Correia's assignment is executive officer of the Information Technology Division while Richardson will serve as Nishimura's executive officer, succeeding Capt. Louis Kealoha, who has been assigned to the Juvenile Services Division.
