Tips sought to find Kapahulu bank robber

Advertiser Staff

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man who is wanted for auto theft and for questioning in a bank robbery.

About 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, a male entered the Kapahulu branch of Bank of Hawaii at 727 Kapahulu Ave., approached the teller, brandished a knife and demanded money. The male jumped over the counter when the teller failed to comply and was last seen fleeing into the parking lot.

Witnesses reported seeing a male get into a white van that was stolen just prior to the robbery.

The robber appeared to be 30 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and 140 to 160 pounds.

He wore a black baseball cap, white long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, slippers, a light-colored shirt wrapped around his face and dark sunglasses.
