The sewer company that operates the East Honolulu Wastewater Treatment Plant, Hawai'i-American Waters, wants to hear from residents if there's an odor problem from its facility.

In the event of a problem, the company asks residents to call a 24-hour customer service number: 866-430-0826.

A report will be issued and an employee will check out any odor emanating from the plant on Kalaniana'ole Highway, across from Sandy Beach.

The issue of sewer odors has come up regularly at community meetings from residents who live near the plant. The company maintains it is within the legal odor levels.
