Advertiser Staff

The condition of an 81-year-old woman struck by a pickup truck today while crossing 'A'ala Street in Liliha has improved from critical to serious at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.

Police traffic investigator Sgt. Danny Kaholokula said the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck turning left from North School Street onto 'A'ala Street at 12:53 p.m.

The pedestrian struck her head on the roadway after being hit, said Kaholokula.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 56-year-old woman, was not injured.
