Fire did $600,000 damage to Hau'ula home

Honolulu Fire Department investigators determined that an electrical malfunction of a power extension strip started yesterday's fire which damaged a two-story wooden home yesterday at 54-285 Hau'ula Road.

Department spokesman Capt. Earle Kealoha said the cause was accidental, and damage was estimated at $550,000 to the building and $50,000 to its contents.
