81-year-old woman struck in Pauoa

An 81-year-old female pedestrian has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition today after she was apparently struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Stillman Lane and North School Street in Pauoa, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's emergency services department.

Paramedics responded at 12:53 p.m., Cheplic said.

George Fox lives on the 11th floor of a senior citizen's apartment building on Aala Street and said police have closed Aala and have only one lane open on North School Street, which runs only in the 'ewa direction in the area.

Fox said police were photographing a late model white truck parked in the crosswalk, along with a pair of white shoes that were left in the crosswalk.

"They knocked her right out of her shoes," Fox said.
