Beach access on Kailua board's agenda tonight

Advertiser Staff

The issue of gates restricting public access to Kailua Beach will be on the agenda of the Kailua Neighborhood Board meeting tonight at the Kailua Recreation Center.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

In August, homeowners on L'Orange Place, a private road, installed a 6-foot gate to block public access to the beach.

This has upset some Kailua residents and beachgoers who worry that more of these gates will go up in Kailua and the rights of way left will bear the burden of increased usage.
