Two appointed to Land Use Commission

Gov. Linda Lingle has made two nominations to the state Land Use Commission to fill vacancies caused by members who resigned.

Lingle named Kyle Chock, the director of The Pacific Resource Partnership, which supports union contractors, for a term that expires at the end of June 2010.

The governor also chose Norman "Chip" Lezy, an attorney who specializes in maritime law, for a term that expires in June 2008. The governor said Lezy, if confirmed by the state Senate, will be nominated to serve a full four-year term.

"I appreciate Kyle and Chip taking on this vital role to ensure our state land use laws are properly implemented," Lingle said in a statement. "As new LUC members, their responsibilities will include determining land use classifications that are key to community planning, development, protecting important agricultural land, and preserving conservation land."
