TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC. With its quiet style, "Lights" often says a lot with a few words. One conversation, between Coach Taylor and his daughter, is remarkable in its understated eloquence. Mostly, the show is built out of tiny things. But now something big happens, transforming the lives of Landry and the girl he loves from afar, Tyra. Beyond that, Taylor's decision to take a college job has profound effects. He rarely sees his pregnant wife and daughter. The new coach berates players, snubs alumni and ignores his paraplegic assistant, the former star quarterback. This could be a tough — and highly dramatic — year.

"Pushing Daisies," 7 p.m., ABC. If you missed Wednesday's debut, catch this rerun. It's the season's best new series. The quirky story has a guy able to wake the dead, but only for a minute. "Daisies" offers a magical look, bouncy music and fairytale narration.

OF NOTE

"A Few Good Men" (1992), 7 p.m., ABC Family. Aaron Sorkin's play, a brilliant courtroom drama, was beautifully directed by Rob Reiner. The wonderful cast is topped by Tom Cruise, Demi Moore and Jack Nicholson. Even in tiny roles, you'll spot Noah Wyle, Cuba Gooding, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon and more.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. A college student was frightened so badly that she's in a coma. Melinda probes the similarities to an urban legend.

"Stargate Atlantis," 7 p.m., Sci Fi Channel. The Atlantis is still lost with Col. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) of "Stargate, SG1" trying to find it.

"Moonlight," 8 p.m., CBS. A prisoner, getting out after 25 years, knows Mack's secret and is ready to confront him.
