Strong winds, some rain expected for today

The weather today will be much the same as it has been for the past several days, according to the National Weather Service.

Trade winds will remain strong into the middle of the new week, forecasters said. The trades are expected to hang around until a high pressure area north of the islands begins to weaken.

Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas and will blow over into leeward areas at times when the winds are blowing the hardest, primarily at night.

Here's what to expect during the next few days:

Today, sunny with scattered showers. Highs 79 to 87. East winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tonight, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 68 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 80 to 87. East winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Sunday night, mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 68 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Columbus Day, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 80 to 87. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday night, mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 68 to 77. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
