Fencing: Hungary, France win gold at world meet

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Hungary won the men's team saber title and France regained gold in the women's team epee at the World Fencing Championships today.

Tamas Desci, Balazs Lontay, Zsolt Nemcsik and Aron Szilagyi beat defending champion France in the saber final 45-43. Italy took the bronze medal with a 45-44 win over Ukraine.

In the women's team epee, Audrey Descouts, Laura Flessel-Colovic, Hajnalka Kiraly-Picot and Maureen Nisima defeated the Russian team 45-37. Germany beat Estonia for the bronze medal 42-40.

The championships ends Sunday with men's epee and women's foil team competitions.
