Noise level to go up a bit with Blue Angels arrival

Advertiser Staff

Things will be a little bit noisy at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii air facilities from 10 to 11 a.m. today when a pyrotechnic special effects test is set off in preparation for the Oct. 12-14 air shows by the Blue Angels.

A string of sequential pyrotechnics will be detonated to create an 800-foot-long by 200-foot tall wall of fire to simulate a close-air support mission, Marine officials said.

The Blue Angels aerial demonstration team is scheduled to perform Oct. 12 for local schools, Make-a-Wish Foundation and Department of Defense personnel and families, followed by additional free shows Oct. 13 and 14 for the public.

The Blue Angels flight team is scheduled to arrive Monday and to practice throughout the week.
