Governor appoints two to Land Use Commission

HONOLULU – Gov. Linda Lingle has nominated Kyle Chock and Normand "Chip" Lezy to serve on the state Land Use Commission.  Chock and Lezy will complete existing terms of members who recently resigned.

Chock's term will expire June 30, 2010. Lezy will serve through June 30, and if confirmed by the Senate, he will be nominated to serve a full four-year term.

Chock is the director of The Pacific Resource Partnership, which provides programs that support unionized contractors.  He previously served as a group sales account executive for insurance provider AIG Hawai'i; executive assistant to the chancellor of Honolulu Community College; senior account executive for Stryker Weiner & Yokota Public Relations; and senior advisor and legislative assistant to former Councilmember Jon Yoshimura. Chock serves on the boards of Lanakila Rehabilitation Foundation, Child & Family Service and Housing Hawai'i, and is involved with The Nature Conservancy Corporate Council for the Environment.  He is a graduate of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, where he earned a master of public administration and a bachelor of education. 

Normand "Chip" Lezy is a partner with the law firm Leong Kunihiro Leong & Lezy. He concentrates his practice in civil trial work, with an emphasis on maritime and admiralty law. He also has experience in aviation law, construction litigation, intellectual property, and insurance law. Lezy previously was an associate with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the U.S., Longshore Claims Association, Federal Bar Association and Hawai'i Bar Association.  He also serves on the board of the not-for-profit College Connections Hawai'i. Lezy graduated from the University of Hawai'i William S. Richardson School of Law, where he earned is juris doctorate as well as an environmental law practice certificate.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and was a cadet at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
