Rhalan Gracie had the name, but Koa Ramos had the game in the main event of the Gracie Proving Grounds mixed martial arts event Saturday night at the Blaisdell Center Arena.

Ramos defeated Gracie by knockout, 2 minutes, 44 seconds into the first round of the bout between 175-pound fighters.

Ramos dropped Gracie with a left-right combination. The finishing blow was a right hook.

Ramos, who trains at the Eastsidaz Gym in Kane'ohe, improved to 2-0; Gracie, who is the son of Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Relson Gracie, dropped to 0-2.

In the semi-main event, Shane Nelson of Hilo defeated Harris Sarmiento from Kalihi by unanimous decision in a lightweight (155 pounds) bout.

Nelson, who trains at Nova Uniao on the Big Island, improved to 8-3. Sarmiento, who trains at the 808 Fight Factory in Waipahu, dropped to 21-17.

The 14-bout card featured some of Hawaii's top up-and-coming MMA competitors, hoping to get invited to larger shows on the mainland.
