While her sister may have outplayed her on the stat sheet yesterday, 'Iolani's Leinani Keanini was all smiles after her top-ranked Raiders held off No. 3 Punahou, 25-15, 21-25, 25-21, at Hemmeter Fieldhouse.

In doing so, 'Iolani (15-0) won the Interscholastic League of Honolulu regular season title and clinched one of the league's three coveted berths in the state tournament.

Punahou (13-2) will have to try to qualify through the league's postseason tournament.

"It's good to have that state berth, but we still have lots to work on," said Raiders' head coach Jenic Tumaneng. "Punahou and Kamehameha are still out there."

Keanini led 'Iolani with nine kills and three blocks.

"We worked really hard to get here," said Keanini, a senior headed to San Francisco. "It feels really good. We played all out and just had fun with it."

Her sister, junior Anuhea Keanini, had a match-high 13 kills for Punahou.

The Raiders got out to an 11-3 lead in the opening game and never looked back.

Game 2 was more indicative of the match with the teams going back and forth. Lani Fonua had six of her 11 kills and an ace and Anuhea Keanini added five kills as Punahou won.

Punahou jumped to a 13-7 lead in the third — and deciding — game. The Raiders, however, reeled off six straight points to tie it at 13. The score was tied at 19 when 'Iolani made its move.

Mahina Haina's kill on a Punahou overpass gave the Raiders the lead for good. Back-to-back lift calls gave 'Iolani the final two points and the match.

"I was telling myself to calm down and play in the moment," said Leinani Keanini. "I thought, 'This is the game we have to win, don't think about anything else.' "

The Raiders outblocked the Buffanblu 13-5. Middle blockers Chelsea Hardin and Haina combined for seven blocks. Malie Yoon had 20 assists for 'Iolani.
