Sustainability plan seeks input

Advertiser Staff

Public meetings are being held statewide to solicit comment on the draft Hawaii 2050 Sustainability Plan.

The draft can be downloaded for review at www.hawaii2050.org.

The state Legislature in 2005 created the Hawaii 2050 Sustainability Task Force, and charged it with, essentially, redeveloping a Hawai'i state plan to envision what the Islands should look like in the middle of the 21st century.

The task force was given the mission of looking at all parts of the community, and developing directions for the economy, jobs, the natural environment, energy, transportation, land use, and how to involve the public in the process.

Meetings began Wednesday on the Big Island and have taken place on other islands.
