Hawaiian-themed treats sought for deployed troops

Advertiser Staff

Operation Homefront of Hawaii and Lex Brodie's are collecting Hawaiian-themed treats at all five Lex Brodie's locations to ship overseas in care packages for the holiday season.

Donations sought are local coffee, macadamia nuts, hard candies (not chocolate), Hawaiian-made cookies and other treats. In addition, small mementos or touches of Hawai'i are also appreciated, such as Hawaiian music CDs, books, dashboard hula girls, etc.

Operation Homefront is sending the care packages to remind troops from Hawai'i that their community 'ohana stands behind them and appreciates their service to the country.

All items collected will be shipped to the Hawai'i military. To register a service member or military unit to receive packages, contact Operation Homefront of Hawaii at 866-569-9185 or Hawaii@operationhomefront.net.

To donate, stop into any of the five Lex Brodie's locations in Honolulu, Kane'ohe, Waipahu, Kalihi or Pearlridge, or contact Operation Homefront to arrange a pickup. The collection boxes will be in stores until Nov. 10.
