Public invited to fishery management council meetings

Advertiser Staff

The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council will meet as a full council today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pagoda Hotel.

Fishermen and other interested members of the public are encouraged to participate and to provide comment during public hearings and comment periods that are available during the meeting. Testimony on nonagenda items will occur from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday.

The public is also invited to participate in the Fishers Forum, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in conjunction with the council meeting. This Fishers Forum, "Fishing for Data," will provide opportunities to learn about and comment on the national recreational saltwater angler registry, a new recreational data plan for the U.S. Pacific islands and council initiatives regarding data-reporting requirements.

For the full agendas and other information about the council meeting and Fishers Forum, visit www.wpcouncil.org or contact the council at 522-8220 or info.wpcouncil@noaa.gov. You can also e-mail requests to info.wpcouncil@noaa.gov.
