NBA: Sonics G Ridnour breaks nose, will wear mask

Advertiser Staff

SEATTLE — Seattle guard Luke Ridnour broke his nose in the SuperSonics' preseason opener and will have to wear a mask for at least the next month.

Ridnour caught an elbow from Sacramento's Ron Artest midway through the first quarter last night. Ridnour was examined in Sacramento, but underwent additional tests today back in Seattle. A CT scan revealed a non-displaced fracture of the nasal bone.

Ridnour was being fitted for a mask that he will have to wear for at least the next month, and the team said he would be a game-time decision for Friday's preseason game at Cleveland.

Ridnour is competing with Earl Watson and Delonte West for a starting spot in the Sonics' backcourt. Last year, Ridnour started 58 of his 71 games and averaged 11 points and 5 assists.
