Guitar donated to band deployed with Hawaii troops

Advertiser Staff

Buddy Blaze, an internationally known creator of stringed instruments from the Big Island, has made a $5,000 custom guitar that is going to be presented to the state today so it can be delivered to a military rock band deployed with Hawai'i troops in Afghanistan.

Blaze is donating the guitar to boost morale and raise awareness about the importance of supporting troops during deployment. He has made more than 100 guitars for such rock bands as Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Def Leppard. Blaze will present the guitar to Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona, who in turn will give it to the Hawai'i Air National Guard to deliver to the troops at a 9:30 a.m. ceremony in the Malolo Room of the J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina.

Also in attendance will be Maj. Gen. Robert Lee, State Adjutant General and Col. David Snakenberg of the Hawai'i Air National Guard.
