Diplomat speaking on Burma at East-West Center

Advertiser Staff

The leading U.S. diplomat in Burma will be giving a public talk at the East-West Center on the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus at noon today in Burns Hall, room 3015.

Burma has been a focal point of world attention in recent weeks as thousands of citizens, led by monks, marched through Rangoon and other cities throughout the country. The marches ended with heavy-handed response from the government that left some protesters dead and others arrested or injured.

Shari Villarosa's speech will be preceded by a meeting with the media at 11:30 a.m.
