TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Pushing Daisies," 7 p.m., ABC. After last week's brilliant opener, "Daisies" tries to keep up the quality. It won't be easy. The opener, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld ("Men in Black"), had a lush look. ABC reportedly blanched at the budget and pulled him midway in the second hour. Still, Sonnenfeld remains a producer alongside Brian Fuller, a warm and witty writer. Tonight, an auto expert is killed. Ned — who can only wake the dead for a minute without consequences — investigates that. Meanwhile, life is complicated for his loved one. He brought her back from the dead but they can never touch. She tries to learn more about his ability.

"Bionic Woman," 8 p.m., NBC. The second episode, last week, brought sharp detours. Jaime's late boyfriend, it turns out, was spying on her two years before they met. And Jae is again sleeping with Sarah, the previous bionic woman — whom he thought he'd killed. Tonight, Jaime both battles and befriends Sarah.

OF NOTE

"Back to You," 7 p.m., Fox. Chuck and Kelly (Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton) are each scheming to get the night's lead story. That's complicated, because two stories are being juggled for the spot.

"'Til Death," 7:30 p.m., Fox. It turns out that Eddie and Joy have been paying for a gym membership without really using it. Now she becomes obsessed with the treadmill.

"The Sarah Silverman Program," 7:30 p.m., Comedy Central. After seeing her dog lick his butt so often, Sarah tries it herself. The result plunges her into despair and court cases, in a surprisingly funny episode that only works because of Silverman's likability.

"Private Practice," 8 p.m., ABC. Addison (Kate Walsh) needs the help of Pete (Tim Daly), working with a couple that has trouble consummating its marriage.

"Life," 9 p.m., NBC. A carjacking-and-murder case seems simple enough — until the victim's husband refuses to identify the killer. Also, Charlie again re-visits his own case, confronting the lead detective who helped send him to prison.

"Dirty, Sexy Money," 9 p.m., ABC. This show continues to be a tattered collection of mismatched parts — dead-serious one moment, loopy the next, rarely involving. Tonight, Nick tries to suppress a sex tape and Patrick's political event faces big problems: Patrick is drunk; Jeremy has invited his secret lover ... who happens to be the enemy of Jeremy's twin, Juliet. It's a loud, messy hour.
