HALE'IWA
Welcome sign gets makeover

Advertiser Staff

Hale'iwa Town has a newly restored welcome sign in time for the surf season, thanks to Margo Goodwill and Jim Erickson, who together created the original sign about 15 years ago.

Goodwill said the sign was deteriorating and falling over, so she decided to fix it up.

Erickson, her husband, repaired and resurfaced the sign, Goodwill repainted it and Mike Wooley installed new posts to hold it up, Goodwill said.

"We offered to refurbish it and the North Shore Chamber of Commerce came up with funds for the project," she said.

The refurbished sign went up Friday at the Waialua end of town.
