UH music/dance departments team up for 'La Mancha'

For the first time since 1991's "West Side Story," the University of Hawaii-Manoa's Music Department is joining the Department of Theatre and Dance in mounting the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, "Man of La Mancha," for a Nov. 9-18 run at Kennedy Theatre.

Glenn Cannon is directing a cast of 22, led by UH professor of music John Mount as Cervantes/Don Quixote.

Other leads are being enacted by Erin Sujan Kim as Dulcinea/Aldonza; Daren Kimura as Sancho, professor of music Laurence Paxton as the Padre and professor emeritus John Hunt as the Governor.

The orchestra will be conducted by Tom Bingham, interim dean of arts and humanities.

Curtain time will be 8 p.m. Nov. 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. Nov. 18.

Tickets are $16 general, $14 seniors, military, UH faculty and staff, $11 students and $5 for UHM students.
