Woman, 42, in hospital after hit by car on King Street

Advertiser Staff

A 42-year-old woman has been taken to The Queen's Medical Center and is in serious condition after getting hit by a car on South King Street early this morning.

The pedestrian accident occurred before 5 a.m. in the far right lane at 715 S. King St., about 50 feet before the Cooke Street intersection.

The woman was not in the crosswalk when she was hit by an older blue Buick Skylark. She was hit square by the front of the car and was sent over the top, leaving a large dent in the car's hood.

It is not known at this time if speed or alcohol were involved.

Traffic was temporarily diverted around King Street starting near the South Street intersection. The road is now open.
