Superferry special session talks cancel Lingle Asia trip

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle announced this afternoon that she has canceled her trip to Asia so she can work with state lawmakers on a potential special session to help Hawaii Superferry.

The governor was scheduled to make an 11-day trip to South Korea, China and Japan from Oct. 23 through Nov. 3.

Lawmakers have said they need more time to discuss draft legislation for Superferry and, if they agree to a special session, the timing would likely fall during the governor's trip.

Lingle said she would still travel to Texas this weekend for a speech to the National Park Foundation.
